Forbidden Love

She stood there, her back to me

Her hair fell over her shoulder, jet black

Taking my heart off the beaten track

A little scrape upon her knee

The sunlight glistened on her bonny arms

A tear in her eye fighting to come unstrung

Her sturdy legs, delicate and strong

As if straight off the Solitary Reaper’s farms

She looked at the blood shining on her knee

Winced a little, willing the bleeding to stop

But the blood ignored her silent plea

I got up, moved towards her with a gentle smile

Another – twelve? – year old, I surmise

Me, aroused more than I ever had been

This one was special, I could feel it in my throat

As special as a twelve-year old to a forty-two year old can be.
